Jay
Brodsky, Tribune Media Services
Jay Brodsky has spent his entire career in the
electronic information services
industry in a variety of operational, technical and
product-management
positions. He currently holds the position of Director
of Technology at Tribune
Media Services (TMS), where he leads strategic technology
analysis and
decision-making. TMS is a leading provider of information
and entertainment
products to newspapers and electronic media; Brodsky
provides guidance on all
aspects of technology-related business opportunities
in syndication, database
management and advertising.
Donald
A. DePalma, Ph.D., Common Sense Advisory
Don is a founder of Common Sense Advisory, a newly formed
eCommerce consultancy. Until March of this year, he
was a principal analyst at Forrester Research in Cambridge,
MA. During his 6-1/2 years at Forrester, Don wrote trend-setting
reports on Web content management, digital marketing,
data warehousing, and application development. Prior
to Forrester, Don was a cofounder of Interbase Software
Corporation and before that he was a key contributor
to the success of Digital Equipment's information management
products. Don also has a background as a linguist specializing
in generative grammar, computational linguistics, and
the historical phonology of Slavic languages.
Rick
Levine, Sun Microsystems
Rick Levine is web architect for the Java Software division
of Sun Microsystems. He is responsible for the creation
of much of the current public web interface for java.sun.com,
including the Java Developer Connection, a free, registration-based
site for Java Developers. Rick has been with Sun for
more than 12 years. He started his tenure at Sun leading
a group that created all the desktop software for Sun's
experiments with 386-based workstations. He also spearheaded
the creation of Sun's first usability testing facilities,
and pioneered the integration of human-factors design,
usability and visual language disciplines into Sun's
engineering universe. Recently, Rick was one of the
authors of the Information and Content Exchange (ICE)
specification and is the author of the Sun Guide to
Web Style.
David
Mathison, ShiftKey Software
David Mathison is the new CEO of ShiftKey Software.
Mathison was formerly the Vice President of Global Syndication
at Reuters NewMedia. His group pioneered Reuters content
syndication model on the web. His group built automated
systems that deliver text, photos, numerical data, audio
and video files to web-based online business partners.
In 1994, Reuters delivered content to on-line services
such as Apple's E-World, Compuserve, Prodigy, ZDNet
and AOL. As companies migrated to the World Wide Web
in 1995, Reuters syndication partnerships grew dramatically.
Reuters content can now be found on almost every major
portal, community and vertical site on the web. At Reuters
since 1994, Mr. Mathison has held Vice-President level
positions in Technical Sales, Marketing, Operations
and Technical Development. Mr. Mathison is Reuter's
representative on the ICE Advisory Council.
