Special
Interest Day Speaker Information:
- MOST
CRITICAL: To provide our attendees with the best information
possible, we are promising to provide them with an Special
Interest Day handout as part of their registration package.
Therefore, all speakers are asked to provide us with
a copy of their presentation slides or formal paper.
This can be submitted in one of three formats: 1) Camera-ready
2) PDF or 3) Power Point. GCA will take the responsibility
of duplicating, binding and shipping them directly to
the hotel. All Special Interest Day papers are due no
later than November 20, 2000.
Please contact Jane Harnad, jharnad@gca.org,
immediately, if you are unable to provide your handout
at anytime. Also, please be aware that GCA will NOT
be able to provide ANY on-site duplication.
- Registration
- As a speaker, you are eligible to receive the special
conference rate of $250 - provided you have sent us
a copy of your presentation (paper or slides). If you
will be attending only on the day of your event, no
fee will be charged. This special speaker rate includes
entrance to all the conference sessions (and special
events) Tuesday - Friday. If you are unable to submit
your presentation paper or slides, the full member or
non-member registration fee will apply. Please fill
out and submit the enclosed special speaker
registration form. The pre-registration deadline
is November 27, 2000. If you have any questions

Onsite Registration - All pre-register speakers
may proceed to the onsite SPEAKER/VIP registration counter
to pick up your registration packet (located in the
hotel Exhibit Hall Level - outside Hall C). If you have
not pre-registered by the November 27 cutoff date -
then you must proceed to one of the onsite registration
counters to register. Lines may be long - therefore
please allow for enough time.

Information - The
special hotel group rate cutoff date has past.
Please make your hotel reservation(s)
as soon as possible to take advantage of the conference
rate. Rooms are now selling on a space by space availability.
- Speaker
Commitment -
To ensure that we have your most current contact information,
biographies, and a/v requirements for your presentation,
we ask that you please complete the following Speaker
Commitment and Authorization Form. If you have already
provided this information in your original paper submission,
please note that, and we will pull that information
accordingly.
If not, please provide that information, so we may keep
your information updated in all the XML 2000 onsite
program booklets.

- Speaker
Ready Room - All speaker are invited to use the
designated speaker ready room. This room is available
8 am - 6pm daily - and is located on the Lobby Level
- in the Park Tower Suite #8212. Limited audio visual
equipment will be made available in the room.

Room Set-up - Most of the rooms will be set classroom.
Risers, a standing podium and a headtable for speakers
will be in the front of each room. A microphone will
be on the podium and the headtable for the question
and answer periods. Please note again that all special
interest day programs will be held at the Marriott Wardman
Park Hotel.
- Other
Miscellaneous Details:
Room Monitors - GCA will provide a room monitor for
each of the rooms. Please rely on this individual to
help you in anyway during the session, especially if
you encounter audio visual problems.
Evaluation Forms - Evaluation forms will be handed out
at the door - to each attendee. We have asked the SID
Chairs to periodically make announcements reminding
attendees to complete their evaluation forms before
leaving the session (handing them to the room monitor
or taking them to the registration area). Upon request,
these evaluation forms can be mailed to you.
Timing of your Session - Please begin and end your presentation
promptly (see the specific agendas for details), as
it is critical to stay on schedule. In addition, we
ask all speakers to meet in the room at least 15 minutes
before the start of their program and do encourage everyone
to check their A/V prior to the beginning of the session.
