ebXML
Alan Kotok, Director, Education and Information
Resources, DISA
The Electronic Business XML initiative is jointly
sponsored by OASIS and UN/CEFACT. Its purpose
is to develop a technical framework that will
enable XML to be utilized in a consistent manner
for the exchange of all electronic business
data. Industry groups currently working on XML
specifications have been invited to participate
in the 18-month project. A primary objective
of ebXML is to lower the barrier of entry to
electronic business in order to facilitate trade,
particularly with respect to small and medium-sized
enterprises (SMEs) and developing nations. This
presentation explains how unlike most messaging
frameworks, ebXML is creating an end-to-end
architecture that includes not only messaging,
but also generic business process models, a
core set of common data component, and distributed
repositories for storing industry or company
requirements.

B2B Relationship Management: A Process-Centric
Approach
Greg Olsen, Ph.D., CTO, Extricity
The practice of B2B integration is rapidly evolving
from early projects that focused on relatively
simple and often experimental data exchange
approaches, to projects that need to support
true collaboration among independent organizations.
Coordination of processes among these organizations
is an essential requirement of collaboration.
Effective B2B integration solutions not only
need to execute these processes, they need to
help companies manage all aspects of the relationships
they have with partnering organizations. This
presentation discusses architectural considerations
for B2B relationship management. Particular
focus is placed on inter-organizational process
modeling and execution, partner information
management, distributed change management, the
role of B2B standards, and interoperability
considerations.

The Missing Link of the WWW (Infrastructure)
Rohit Chandra, President and CEO, eCode.com
In this session, the presenter describes the
concept of a User Identity Manager as the missing
link in the current WWW infrastructure. This
concept allows an Internet user to go from the
entryway to the search engine, to any destination
the user may choose without carrying his user
information throughout or without re-entering
the same information repeatedly.

DSL Technologies
Angela Fox, Vice President, Product Development,
Simplexity.com
The variations of DSL technology choices can
be quite confusing. Many small and medium-sized
businesses don't know or understand the strengths
and benefits of each type of DSL- ADSL, SDSL,
IDSL and xDSL or how to go about selecting the
best DSL service for their business. This session
provides clarity around this technology; explaining
the why's behind the hype, the pain, and the
promise of this relatively new technology.
