An Executive's View of
Using XML in Supply Chain Management
Michael E. Bailey,
Founder/CFO, XMLSolutions Corporation
Supply Chain Management is the process of getting
the right products to the customer in a faster,
more efficient manner, arriving at the right place
at the right time, in the right quantity and in
factory specified conditions. This chain travels
from the vendor base through production and to the
final customer. It involves all disciplines in the
corporate structure, from design and manufacturing;
warehousing and procurement; to marketing and accounting.
Now-a-days, the Information Technology department
plays an integral part insuring that each department
is tied together seamlessly. This presentation will
analyze how the powerful, new technology called
eXtensible Markup Language (XML) will revolutionize
the way Supply Chain Management is conducted. Included
in this analysis will be a look at changes on the
horizon for Electronic Data Interchange, and how
XML will "open the doors" of EDI for all of a company?s
trading partners. Lastly, the presentation will
cover promising e-commerce technologies offered
for improving SCM.

Using XML to Manage Your
Customers
Ian McClure, Product Marketing Manager, Art Technology
Group
While there are many challenges facing e-businesses
today, one remains the frontrunner. How are e-businesses
going to effectively manage their online customer
relationships? The answer is simple - by embracing
XML. When teamed with Java, the two language standards
enable businesses to achieve a robust, highly extensible
platform facilitating data access and application
integration across and between enterprises. This
ease of access and integration means e-businesses
can speed up initial time-to-market and react swiftly
to changing market conditions. In this presentation,
Mr. McClure will discuss ways that customer information
can be leveraged for more effective customer management.
He will explain why XML is critical for providing
the data access and application integration necessary
to satisfy the growing needs of online customers.
Attendees will find out how XML can significantly
reduce the time required to link a company with
its customers and partners.

Ronald J. Bodkin, Chief Technologist, C-bridge Internet
Solutions Inc.
Ron
Bodkin will discuss architectural principles for
using XML effectively in e-business applications.
He will use examples from project work to illustrate
the principles. He will discuss how to decide where
to use XML in an architecture, how to integrate
transactions between business partners, and approaches
to selecting and designing vocabularies. He will
discuss architectural patterns for leveraging XML
and patterns for effective implementation. He will
also discuss skill sets and effectively teaching
others, a critical part of successfully using XML.
He will provide "take-away" concepts for developing
effective XML architectures, and conclude with a
forecast that examines the impact of XML on e-business
and how we expect the standard to evolve.

Building
B2B E-Commerce Sites with BizTalk
Scott Mauvais, E-Commerce Manager, Infogenics
This session will show how to use BizTalk to greatly
simplify the development of B2B E-Commerce sites.
Because it is based on a data-driven, loosely coupled
model, it allows developers to focus on the data
interchange rather than worrying about infrastructure
compatibility. This session will walk through the
architectural components of BizTalk and show the
developer how to start using the BizTalk framework
to bring E-Commerce to their existing applications.

Deploying XML for Complex
E-Business
Gary Kinghorn, Director, Marketing and Corporate
Development, Netfish Technologies
Where
once companies operated as isolated units, the new
Internet economy and global competition require
companies to collaborate together as well-integrated
business communities. This business integration
requires more than the traditional exchange of electronic
messages and data. It requires the integration of
complex e-business processes and enterprise applications
across multiple organizations in the value chain.
This session will describe how large trading communities
can deploy XML to communicate transparently and
securely over the Internet by coordinating complex
workflows across multiple organizations; will outline
how companies can leverage emerging E-commerce standards,
such as RosettaNet, Microsoft BizTalk and cXML;
and will articulate the advantages of using XML
over traditional EDI methodologies.

XML Transformations: The Key to Success in eBusiness
Solutions
Mark Colan, XML Technologist, IBM Corporation
Does the growing number of XML vocabularies represent
industry fragmentation? Will this trend subvert
the XML standard? If your company customizes its
XML information to your internal needs, can you
still participate in business-to-business applications
using standard vocabularies? This talk will discuss
the growing importance of XML Transformations, introduce
XSL programming and tools, and present the architecture
of real-world eBusiness solutions using XML and
XSL.
