At
XML Europe Conference, Keynotes By Industry Leaders
Will Focus On How XML Is, And Will Be Used, Across
A Variety Of Web-Based Applications

announce the keynote presenters for this year’s XML
Europe event.
The exceptional
keynote roster for XML Europe 2001 will feature executives
from a wide range of leading technology companies
and organizations. Profium CEO Janne Saarela; Boeing
Director of Company Wide Applications, Richard W.
Smith and On-Line Senior Manager, Freelon F. Hunter;
Tim Bray, CEO of Antarti.ca Systems; and XML.com’s
Managing Editor, Edd Dumbill, will present attendees
with an in-depth look at XML’s current trends and
a provocative vision for the future of Web-based applications
and the Internet.
CEO of
Profium Ltd., Finland, Janne Saarela, will share his
insights into XML as the enabling technology in financial
information syndication. His presentation, entitled,
"Real-time Financial Information Delivery in
B2B Business Based on XML Technology," describes
the business model of Kauppalehti Online, the biggest
financial portal Web site in Scandinavia.
From The
Boeing Company, USA, Richard W. Smith, Director of
Companywide Applications and Freelon F. Hunter, Senior
Manager, On-Line Access, will discuss e-Business at
Boeing. Attendees will hear how Boeing’s e-Business
strategy of e-enabling all of Boeing’s constituencies
will reduce transaction costs and flow time across
the global enterprise. This strategy is a key component
of how Boeing maintains its role as the global leader
in aerospace, defense and commercial aviation related
businesses.
Tim Bray,
CEO of Antarcti.ca Systems, Canada, will reflect on
the importance of the Web in today’s world and discuss
how despite the frenetic waves of investment, innovation
and hype, the Web is still remarkably like it was
when it burst to the surface seven years ago.
XML.com’s
Managing Editor, Edd Dumbill, will deliver the closing
keynote address entitled, "The State of XML."
Mr. Dumbill’s talk will survey the current state of
XML—from standards and standards-makers to XML’s role
in the architecture of the next generation of computer
systems. He addresses how XML’s influence is being
felt more broadly than ever—not only on the Web and
in business, but also in more unexpected places such
as operating systems and embedded devices.
These
keynote speakers join a conference program composed
