i4i
Partners with XML Europe in Berlin
Company’s
Technology to Support Speakers and Presenters
Toronto,
ON and Alexandria, VA – (2 March 2001) – i4i (Infrastructures
for Information Inc.), a leading supplier of XML collaborative
content software, will use its unique S4/TEXT®
software to help speakers at XML Europe 2001 (sponsored
by the Graphic Communications Association) to create
their presentation materials simultaneously in Microsoft®
Word and XML.
Conference
speakers at this major trade show, which runs from
May 21-25 in Berlin, Germany, will be able to use
a conference-specific DTD, a specially configured
version of S4/TEXT®, on i4i’s Web site
– www.i4i.com – to prepare their presentations for
distribution by the show organizers. Once the materials
are created, they will revert back to conference organizers
for distribution to the delegates, mostly managers
and technical staff. In addition, conference organizers
will make available to the delegates a read-only version
of S4/TEXT® on a CD. This will allow
readers to view XML in Microsoft Word.
"This
is an opportunity for us to partner with one of the
world’s foremost XML shows and demonstrate to the
technology community what S4/TEXT®
is all about," says Michel Vulpe, Chief Technology
Officer and founder of i4i, who himself is a presenter
at the show.
"We
were pleased that i4i accepted our invitation to provide
support for our speakers," says Pamela Gennusa,
Conference Chair, XML Europe 2001. "i4i created
an application that uses the XML Europe 2001 DTD.
Using the i4i S4/TEXT application, our speakers can
use Microsoft Word to develop an XML version of their
paper, which we will then use to deliver the conference
proceedings in a wide variety of formats and media."
XML
EUROPE 2001
The
theme of XML Europe 2001, which will take place at
Berlin’s Internationales Congress Centrum, is ‘Going
Vertical and Beyond: How XML Powers Industry Applications.’
The conference and show will take a concentrated look
at how XML is and will be used within vertical and
horizontal industry applications. A series of conference
tracks will focus on how vertical industries are using
XML to conduct business using the Web or corporate
Intranets.
XML
Europe will address two prominent horizontal application
areas for using XML on the Web – e-business and knowledge
management. It will include two days of extensive
tutorials and a show floor with more than 50 exhibitors.
It is the only comprehensive show of its kind in Europe.
