| Dear Presenter:
Welcome to the program! The
specific day and times have been set -- please refer to the links listed below
for details: Late-Breaking News
Session Vendor Offering Presentation
If you have any problems locating the correct information, please contact
me directly at jharnad@idealliance.org.
I will be the conference coordinator, so please
direct any questions regarding your participation to me at: Jane Harnad, Director
of Conference Programs jharnad@idealliance.org
703-837-1095 phone In addition, we have developed this special site to keep you
informed about the event and any updates. A link reminder will be sent (via email)
to all presenters when an update or change occurs. In any case, the site is designed
for you, so please feel free to check it at anytime. Now
-- for some important information about your speaking engagement --
Presentation Materials
A Complete Presentation
Paper is not expected of vendor and late-breaking news presenters. However,
we do expect to receive one or both of the items listed below (to be included
in the Web site proceeding). - A
complete session agenda or outline (in HTML)
- A
copy of your presentation slides (used during the session)
Whether you
provide us with both or one of the items above - we do ask that all material be
delivered to me (Jane Harnad) by December 1st. Format for
Slides We encourage the use of XML, but will be able to accept most other
formats. For some tools to help you create your slideshows in XML -- please refer
to a number of systems that various XML experts have put together, which
are freely available, and may meet your needs as well as commercial non-XML-based
systems. A (probably partial) list of such tools is to be found at http://www.mulberrytech.com/walkthewalk.html.
Presentation Tips Some helpful tips can
be found here
for your XML 2001 presentation. Press Relations and Marketing We encourage all presenters
to send out notices regarding their presentation - to any related press representatives.
We have found it to be beneficial to both the presenter and the event. In addition,
feel free to link your company's web site to event web site - with any one of
the enclosed
banner logos. FYI: The official event Web address is www.xmlconference.org
Special Speaker Reception IDEAlliance is hosting a "THANK
YOU" special speaker reception during the event on Monday, December 10
from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. If you are able or unable to attend -- please RSVP by November
7, 2001 to jharnad@idealliance.org.
Onsite Program
Review Process We are developing the onsite conference program at this
time. In the next week, we will be sending out important information to all speakers
- including presentation abstracts. We will be asking all speakers to review their
information and submit any changes by November 2nd.
Hotel Information A special conference rate has been
arranged at the hotel. The reservation cutoff date is November 7, 2001. For
more details - check out the hotel and
reservation information on the event web site.
Speaker Registration One speaker per talk will receive
a complimentary conference pass to attend from December 11-14. IDEAlliance will
be automatically registering you for the conference upon
receipt of the speaker
information and commitment form. A confirmation letter will follow
in the weeks to come. (Please note this does not include the tutorials on December
9-10. If you would like to attend a tutorial, please forward the tutorial title
and payment information directly to jharnad@idealliance.org.)
Audio Visual All of the session rooms will include the following
standard equipment: one computer projection unit, one screen and microphones.
If using the computer projection unit, please remember that you will be responsible
for supplying the computer. Also, we will need to know the type of computer you
will be using (PC or MAC) and the resolution of your presentation (see the form).
If your presentation requires additional audio visual equipment, please list that
information on the speaker information and commitment form (we will try to accommodate
your request). Special Note: Please note that we have not added those
additional AV requests made during the abstract submission process, but will be
evaluating those requests over the next couple weeks. Speaker Information
and Commitment Form To ensure that we have your most current contact information,
biography, and AV requirements, we ask that you please complete the following
commitment
form. Due date is November 2nd. Presentation Logistics
The program is divided up into 7 rooms - throughout four days. Each session
on any particular day is then divided up into two 45 minute talks (35 minutes
for presentation and 10 minutes for Q&A). Both speakers in a given session
should be present 10 minutes before the start of that session regardless of who
speaks first. (This is to allow for an audio/visual check and an easy transition
between speakers.) In addition, we ask that the presenter who speaks first in
a session remain present throughout the remainder of the second talk in that session.
Please feel free to again review the conference Schedule-at-a-Glance
for clarification on your presentation time or contact me directly at jharnad@idealliance.org.
FYI: All presentations
will be taking place at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel.
Exact meeting rooms will be listed on this site in the months to come. Speaker
Prep Room The Speaker Prep Room will be open and available from 8:00 am-6:00
pm Tuesday-Friday. Minimal audio visual equipment will be available, so you may
preview your presentations. Please note this also can be a place for you and other
participants to meet and coordinate presentations. The location of the room will
be listed on the site in the months to come. Thank
you for taking the time to review all the above information and remember to feel
free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns. Jane Harnad, Director
of Conference Programs jharnad@idealliance.org
