Applications of XML are often limited to transient data exchange and messaging between systems across corporation boundaries. Persistent XML-based information models can greatly simplify the design, implementation, and evolution of highly connected eBusiness systems because the entities of such models can flow readily into enterprise systems, be viewed and edited by users, or participate in business partner message interchanges. These models are also key enablers to a new generation of electronic commerce architecture.
