Daniela Florescu — Daniela Florescu is
a researcher at INRIA Rocquencourt, a research institute in France, where
her work focuses on data integration, semi-structured data, query optimization,
and XML query systems. She represents INRIA in the W3C XML Query Working Group.
Dr. Florescu has been involved in the development of several systems
that have been influential in the semi-structured database community, including
XML-QL and Strudel. At the Int. Conf. on Very Large Databases (VLDB) in 1998,
she organized the panel "Is web site management a database problem?", and
at the 5th International Workshop on Knowledge Representation Meets Databases
(KRDB'98), she was a moderator for the panel "Why not knowledge representation
for semistructured data?". She has taught courses at the University of Paris-Sud,
CNAM de Versailles, the Franco-Polish Graduate School in Poznan, Poland, and
the Ecole Française d'Electronique et d'Informatique in Paris.
Dr. Florescu has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of
Paris VI.
