The International Digital Enterprise Alliance (IDEAlliance) provides comprehensive support to working groups engaged in developing industry-specific applications of both vertical and cross-industry open information standards. IDEAlliance is the latest step in GCA's 35-year history of fostering the development of SGML, XML and related structured information standards. Working groups and other standards-development bodies work with IDEAlliance under a number of models. IDEAlliance also sponsors the premier XML exposition events in North America, Europe and Australia.

OASIS is the international, not-for-profit consortium that advances electronic business by promoting open, collaborative development of interoperability specifications. With the United Nations, OASIS sponsors ebXML, a global framework for electronic business data exchange. OASIS operates XML.ORG, the non-commercial portal that delivers information on the use of XML in industry. The XML.ORG Registry provides as an open community clearinghouse for distributing and locating XML application schemas, vocabularies and related documents. OASIS serves as the home for industry groups interested in developing XML specifications. OASIS technical work embraces conformance, security, business transactions, repositories and other interoperability issues.

CIP4 is an international, world wide operating standards body located in Switzerland. The purpose of the association is to encourage computer based integration of all processes that have to be considered in the graphic arts industry, in particular the specification of standards. The International Cooperation for the Integration of Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) is the successor of CIP3, which started in 1995 as a joint initiative of vendors for the graphical arts industry. Since then CIP3 has developed the Print Production Format which is today implemented in many applications. Even in the future CIP4 is going to extend its activities and the number of different types of members. CIP4 is about to develop and promote vendor independent standards for the graphic arts industry, such as the new Job Definition Format.

Organized in 1948, TAGA is the only global professional technical association for the graphic arts industries. TAGA, which has over 900 individual members worldwide, also maintains the industry's best permanent set of technical papers and abstracts. TAGA serves the CTO, CIO, and R&D management personnel of printers, publishers, and premedia companies, as well as engineers and scientists employed by graphic arts systems and equipment providers, ink manufacturers, and paper manufacturers. TAGA focuses on graphic arts systems, software, and computer technology developments, as well as the more traditional areas of press, ink, and paper engineering applications. The association also provides guidance and support to its 15 active student chapters around the world, including chapters in Canada, France, Sweden, Taiwan, and Wales. TAGA's Annual Technical Conference provides students opportunities to participate in several competitions as well as an opportunity to meet prospective employers. In addition, through the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation, TAGA sponsors many scholarships and fellowships each year to deserving graphics communications students.
