since 1995 Scientist at the Technical University of Munich, Institute for Information Technique in Mechanical engineering (itm http://www.itm.tum.de). The institute, under the lead of Prof. Dr.-Ing. K. Bender, has been engaged for years in a lot of common activities with various partners from industry and science in the field of engineering management and automation technique. Due to the fact, that mechanical engineering has been revolutionized by the increasing meaning of microelectronics and software in the control systems of modern machines, the domain of embedded mechatronic systems is studied in the research field of automation systems engineering. This includes the development of description methods for the fieldbus-equipped appliances with the objective of obtaining an interconnected life-cycle model for intelligent automation components. The practical use of these intelligent devices is exhibited in the Automation Competence Center located within the institute. Furthermore, the institute offers a certification service for PROFIBUS products in its testing lab.
