A
New Conference; Extreme Markup 2000
The world of
information technologies is constantly re-inventing
itself. To better serve the community, GCA and
IDEAlliance must also continually re-invent their
conference offering. The new Extreme Markup
Conference, being offered for the first time this
August in Montreal is one example.
Extreme
is a new, highly technical conference concentrating on
the evolving abstractions that underlie modern
information management solutions, how those
abstractions enhance human productivity, and how they
are being applied. Abstract and concrete information
models, systems built on them, software to exploit
them, SGML, XML, XSL, XLink, schemas, Topic Maps,
query languages, and other markup-related topics are
in scope for this conference.
Extreme Markup
Languages is the successor conference to these GCA
conferences offered in past years:
Principals of
those conferences have now joined forces to offer a single
unabashedly hard-core conference as a gathering place for
the technically-oriented members of the information
interchange community; a place for these people to meet
and refresh each other with ideas, advice, and
camaraderie. The conference is agnostic with respect to
commercial and political persuasion. It is passionate
about providing a forum where technical ideas can be
communicated and explained. Steven
R. Newcomb, Techno Teacher, Inc. and B. Tommie Usdin,
Mulberry Technologies, Inc. former conference chairs
of Metastructures and Markup Technologies
(respectively) will serve as chairs for this new venue.
Whether you
were a former "SGML Geek" or are a current Topic
Maps Geek, this highly technical conference is for
you! Presentations
will be all new material, address some aspect of
information management from a theoretical or practical
standpoint, and be detailed and rigorous.
P.S. Montreal
in August is the best! Make your reservations
