Knowledge
Technologies 2001 Set for Austin, TX
Throughout this year, GCA found that knowledge technologies
were taking center stage in
its XML conferences. While knowledge was not a popular theme at
competing XML conferences, the GCA 2000 conference series highlighted
knowledge technologies as the next "hot" technology.
At XML Europe, a full track on "Topic Maps" was the
highlight of the conference. Knowledge technologies captured the
spotlight at GCA's new Extreme Markup Conference in Montreal. And XML
2000 in Washington DC featured an entire Knowledge Technologies
track that expanded the knowledge offering of XML Europe to include
other key technologies such as RDF, ontologies, and semantics along
with Topic Maps.
In
light of the strong interest in knowledge technologies, GCA is
offering a new conference in 2001. This
new conference, Knowledge Technologies 2001, is a natural consequence
of the rapidly growing interest in technologies that will provide
solutions for the knowledge management community and make the Semantic
Web a reality. Because
KT2001
is a brand new conference we will construct the conference based on
the input of paper submissions and rely on the guidance of a KT Board
of Advisors. We are actively reaching out to all communities for which
“knowledge” is critical, holding our breath, and waiting to see
what form this new conference takes. We have some predictions about the content of the conference. But also hope to be surprised by new knowledge technologies
to be debuted. In
addition to our conference tracks, we are proud to offer tutorials
designed for newcomers, those involved in management, and Web
developers.
KT2001
is your opportunity to catch up with the latest developments in the
quickly emerging world of Knowledge Technologies. This event will
provide you with updates on the latest standards and activities of the
ISO, the World Wide Web Consortium, and IDEAlliance initiatives. We
will assemble outstanding keynote presentations from visionaries of
the world of knowledge, as well as from technology vendors.
Mark your calendars for March 4-7 and buy a ticket for Austin!
