KT2001 Offers Outstanding Program in March Debut!
March 4-7, Austin TX
Throughout this year, GCA found that knowledge technologies
were taking center stage in
its XML conferences (Europe and US) and the Extreme Markup Conference
(Montreal).
In
light of the strong interest in knowledge technologies, GCA is
offering a new conference in 2001. This
new conference, Knowledge Technologies 2001, (or KT2001) is a natural consequence
of the rapidly growing interest in technologies that will provide
solutions for the knowledge management community and make the Semantic
Web a reality.
While most of the GCA conferences in recent years have
focused on markup or more specifically XML and related
standards, KT2001 focuses on the technologies that enable
knowledge. So while XML may be relevant in some
cases, it is not the focus of this conference. KT
specifically reaches beyond the typical GCA Conference
audience. In fact, KT2001 has been designed as a conference that will provide a
bridge between knowledge communities that have no forum for
interaction. KT will provide a meeting of the
minds, so that each knowledge community can learn from the
other for mutual benefit. Communities that this new
conference will address include:
- Knowledge Representation / Artificial Intelligence
- Knowledge Organization / Libraries
- Internet / Semantic Web
- Document / Asset Management
- Knowledge Management
This year's program content
has been guided by the input of the Board of Advisors.
In particular, GCA has the program committee, consisting
of Dan Connolly (W3C), Eric Miller (OCLC), Holger Rath (empolis),
and Ann Wrightson (Ontopia) to thank for the high quality
of this year's program.
KT2001 will consist of 3
concurrent tracks; Management, Implementers, and
Technical. Subject matter from the 5 knowledge
communities make up the program. Emphasis will be
placed on the Business of Knowledge, Managers Technology
Overviews, Ontologies and Taxonomies, Topic Maps, Tools
and Applications, Knowledge Visualization, Knowledge
Acqusition, Asset Management, Core Standards, and
Case Studies.
KT2001 also boasts
outstanding keynote speakers. Opening Keynote
presentations will be provided by Douglas
B. Lenat, President/CEO, Cycorp, Dr. Nic
Fulton, Chief Technology Strategist, Reuterspace, a division of Reuters,
and Al Zollar, President/CEO, Lotus Development Corporation, a division of IBM.
Edd Dumbill,
Managing Editor, XML.com will provide the closing keynote presentation.
