This year's Chair is Lauren Wood, Softquad. Her planning committee includes C.M. Sperberg-McQueen, W3C, Jon Bosak, Sun Microsystems, and Marion Elledge, IDEAlliance. Keynotes include Lauren Wood, James Clark from the Thai Open Source Software Center, David Reed, Microsoft Corporation, and Larry Cable, iPlanet. When asked "why do you attend this conference each year?" attendees reply that it is the perfect opportunity to learn a lot about XML in a very short time. Any XML related tutorial is available at the conference. In addition, you can find a wide range of excellent content within the conference program. Also one can catch up on the newest development in XML tools at the exposition that accompanies the conference. But perhaps the most important feature of the conference is the opportunity to meet peers and network. This is possible during organized discussions during lunch or at nocturne sessions following the close of the exposition. In addition, this year's conference features "Town Hall Meetings" where attendees can meet, discuss issues, and share ideas. Perhaps the hottest Town Hall Meeting has recently been added to the program for Tuesday, December 11. This session, Patent and Web Standards will enable members of the XML community to have a face-to-face discussion about the proposed W3C Patent Policy. What is the proposed policy?
