Citrix and Documentum Form Multi-Tiered Alliance to Bring Content Management Functionality to Portal Users Across the Enterprise

Companies Cooperate on Joint Sales and Marketing Activities

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. and CHICAGO - October 2, 2001 - Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), a global leader in application serving and portal software and services, and Documentum (Nasdaq: DCTM), a leading provider of enterprise content management, today announced a multi-tiered alliance that will bring content management functionality to portal users across the enterprise. By using Documentum eContent Services for Portals to expose content management capabilities through the portal interface, portal users will be able to manage business-critical content and participate in business workflows. To energize the product initiatives, Citrix has joined the Documentum Signature Partner Program, and Documentum has become a premier member of the Citrix Business Alliance™ (CBA) Internet Solutions Program, spurring joint sales and marketing activities.

The initial focus of the alliance will be the integration of Citrix® XPS™ portal software with Documentum 4i™ eBusiness Platform. This will be accomplished through the development of a new Content Delivery Agent (CDA), an individual, easy-to-use, Web-based application that snaps directly into a user's XPS homepage. The CDA is based on Documentum eContent Services for Portals, a comprehensive set of content management user functions that are exposed through the portal interface.

"We're excited about going to market with Documentum," said Barry Davis, vice president, business development for Citrix. "Our alliance offers joint customers several choices for rapidly distributing powerful Documentum content management services to any content contributor in a secure and highly-manageable manner, accelerating content creation and ROI."

Davis added, "Citrix's partnership with Documentum is important, because it builds upon the full range of our application and information delivery capabilities. Today, Citrix is providing IT infrastructure that supports better and faster decision making, the delivery of new services, and collaborative business relationships-across the Web or any other corporate network."

In addition to the Citrix XPS integration, Documentum will certify the Documentum 4i platform in the MetaFrame® environment. This will allow customers with a range of network connections to take advantage of the full functionality of Documentum 4i, providing access through Citrix ICA client as well as Web access using Citrix NFuse™ application portal product.

Citrix offers two classes of portal solutions to serve its broad customer base:

  • Citrix NFuse application portal software provides MetaFrame customers with the ability to integrate and publish interactive Windows, UNIX or Java applications into any standard Web browser - instantly "Webifying" them without a single application rewrite.
  • Citrix XPS portal software gives users a single, personalized and secure point of interaction with the applications and information helping them work smarter and faster, and supporting the delivery of new services within and beyond the enterprise.

"The integration of Documentum 4i eBusiness Platform with Citrix XPS creates a best-of-breed solution that allows portal end users to access and manage accurate enterprise content in any format and participate in business workflow processes," said Steve Pattison, vice president of technology partner alliances. "Using Documentum eContent Services for Portals, Citrix and Documentum can deliver these powerful content management functions through the portal quickly and easily, reducing time-to-portal and improving productivity for customers."
