Other items to remember...

Press Relations and Marketing
We encourage all presenters to send out notices regarding their presentation - to any related press representatives. We have found it to be beneficial to both the presenter and the event. In addition, feel free to link your company's web site to event web site - with any one of the enclosed logos.

FYI: The official event Web address is www.xmlconference.org

Special Speaker/Reviewer Reception
IDEAlliance is hosting a "THANK YOU" special speaker/reviewer reception during the event on Monday, December 10 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. If you are able or unable to attend -- please RSVP - deadline is past due. (RSVP was to be sent to me at jharnad@idealliance.org.)

Instructor
Registration
Instructors will receive one complimentary conference pass (Dec 11-14) per tutorial. IDEAlliance will be automatically register you for the conference upon receipt of the instructor information and commitment form-which is currently past due. If you are interested in attending an additional tutorial, please forward the tutorial title and payment information directly to jharnad@idealliance.org. It will then be added to your registration and an updated confirmation letter will be sent out.

Hotel Information
A special conference rate has been arranged at the hotel. The reservation cutoff date was November 7, 2001. For more details - check the hotel and reservation information on the event site. Please note - the hotel has informed us that it is sold out outside of our block. Which means the price will most likely double after the cutoff date and space will go quickly. Please do not hesitate for it will be out of our hands.

Tutorial Handout
To provide our attendees with the best information possible, we are promising to handout "complete" tutorial materials as part of the registration package. Therefore, all tutorial instructors are asked to provide a FULL tutorial handout for each of their respective tutorials. Materials should be submitted in one of three ways: 1) PDF 2) Power Point 3) HTML. We will take the responsibility of duplicating, binding and shipping them directly to the venue.

  • All tutorial handouts were due no later than November 16, 2001. If your tutorial handout was received, please note it will be taken care of by us. If you were unable to provide us with the handout, please duplicate and ship the handout to the facility. A note has been sent to all instructors regarding the printing and quantity. If you have further questions, please contact me directly at jharnad@idealliance.org
  • Some Presentation tips:

1.) Tools for Creating the Slideshow - You may wish to consider creating the slideshow presentation in XML. There are a number of systems that various XML experts have put together, which are freely available, and may meet your needs as well as commercial non-XML-based systems. A (probably partial) list of such tools is to be found at
    http://www.mulberrytech.com/walkthewalk.html.

2.) Helpful tips can be found HERE.

Please contact me, jharnad@idealliance.org, immediately, if you are unable to provide your handout at anytime. Also, please be aware that onsite duplication will NOT be made available. Please do not forget to include your contact information and current biography in your handout materials.

Audio Visual
All of the tutorial meeting rooms will include the following standard equipment: one computer projection unit, one screen and microphones (if applicable). If using the computer projection unit, please remember that you will be responsible for supplying the computer (and any associated power cords). Also, we will need to know the type of computer you will be using (PC or MAC) and the resolution of your presentation. If your presentation requires additional audio visual equipment, please list that information on the instructor information and commitment form (no promises - but we will try to accommodate your request).

Instructor Information and Commitment Form - PAST DUE
To ensure that we have your most current contact information, biography, and delegate and instructor a/v requirements, we ask that you please complete the following commitment and information form. (Please also note that we will be automatically registering you for the event - upon receipt of this form.)

Presentation Logistics
All tutorials will be taking place on December 9 and 10, between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. Coffee breaks are scheduled at 10:30 am and 3:30 PM (held in the foyers); the tutorial luncheon is scheduled to run from 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM (held in the Northern Hemisphere E); therefore we ask that you please try to build the breaks and luncheon times into your presentation schedule. Also, we would like to ask all instructors to be in the meeting room at least 15 minutes before the tutorial begins - to check the audio visual setup. Please feel free to again review the event Schedule-at-a-Glance for clarification on the tutorial timing/location or contact me directly at jharnad@idealliance.org.

FYI: All tutorials will be taking place at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel. Exact meeting rooms are now available on the Schedule-at-a-Glance.

Speaker Prep Room
The Speaker Prep Room will be open and available from 8:00 am - 6:00 PM - both on Sunday and Monday. Minimal audio visual equipment will be available, so you may preview your presentations in advance. We will be equipping the room with Internet access - so please feel free to use it when working on your presentations. Please note this also can be a place for you and other participants to meet and coordinate presentations. The location of the room is Europe 5, on the Lobby Level.

Again, we all thank you for taking the time to prepare for next week's event. I assure you that it promises to be an exciting event.
