XML 2004 Open Standards InterOp Demos

OASIS will host six Open Standards InterOp Demos at this year's XML 2004 event - Tuesday through Thursday in the Johnson Room on the Mezzanine Level of the hotel. Both conference and exhibit-only attendees are welcome to attend.

Tuesday - Wedenesday - Thursday

Tuesday, 16 November

OASIS Web Services for Remote Portlets
Presentations: 11:00 and 11:45 am
Room: Johnson Room on the Mezzanine Level
Participants: BEA, IBM, Oracle, Sun, Vignette, and others

This demo will show several WSRP implementations involved as both WSRP Producers and Consumers. WSRP defines an interface and the protocol for accessing remote aggregatable, interactive, presentation-oriented content sources. This enables these content sources to be deployed in such a manner that content consumers, such as portals, can quickly incorporate the content into the pages being served to end-users. These interactive content sources gain quick access to a larger audience while Web intermediaries, such as portals, gain both easy access to a larger set of presentation-oriented content and reduced development effort as all WSRP Producers can be accessed through generic means rather than requiring Producer-specific programming.

OASIS ebXML Registry
Presentation:1:00 pm
Room: Johnson Room on the Mezzanine Level
Participants: Adobe, BT UK, Cyclone Commerce, ebXMLsoft, and NIST

The ebXML Registry OASIS Standard will be demonstrated in tandem with OASIS ebMS, CPA, BPSS and CAM specifications to manage a large community of participants in a typical e-Service and e-Business system such as a regulatory submission to e-Government, e-Healthcare network providers, telecomm network providers, and marketplace service providers, e.g., DOD EMall. The service provider will deploy the Registry as a central resource to allow partners to quickly join the community and integrate their own applications into the e-Service network. Partners will select the business process they want to use, pick the version(s) of transactions they can support, test compliance, certify their ebMS systems, and then create their CPA definitions and begin interacting.

Wednesday, 17 November

OASIS Common Alerting Protocol
Presentations: Every half hour 8:00 am - noon
Room: Johnson Room on the Mezzanine Level
Participants: CapWIN, DMIS, ETeam, IEM, Warning Systems, and Anteon Corporation

The CAP OASIS Standard provides a way to communicate key emergency event data to a variety of systems utilizing XML. In this InterOp, participants will simulate a chemical event utilizing plume modeling. A CAP message containing the effected areas, severity, etc. will be posted on a server backbone. Other players will extract the CAP data, activate alert/notifications systems and display incident management information utilizing the posted data.

OASIS WS-Composite Application Framework
Presentation: 1:15 pm
Room: Johnson Room on the Mezzanine Level
Participants: Arjuna, IONA, and Oracle

WS-CAF provides a standard solution to sharing important contextual information such as username/password, credit card data, and shopping cart contents across e-commerce sites. This demo will show interoperability among three vendor implementations. Each vendor provides a Web-based storefront that uses WS-CAF to share customer information. The customer is able to purchase goods from all three stores as if the he or she was interacting with a single storefront.

Thursday, 18 November

OASIS WS-Reliability
Presentations: 10:30 and 11:30 am
Room: Johnson Room on the Mezzanine Level
Participants: NEC, Fujitsu, Oracle, Hitachi

An introduction to the WS-Reliability OASIS Standard features and protocol will be presented along with a description of real-world scenarios in which the protocol provides practical benefit. Implementations will demonstrate the inherent functions and illustrate the benefits obtained by using WS-Reliability. An open source reference version of WS-Reliability will be presented and its capabilities will be described.

OASIS ebXML Implementation, Interoperability and Conformance
Presentation: 1:30 pm
Room: Johnson Room on the Mezzanine Level
Participants: NIST and Fujitsu

The OASIS ebXML IIC Test Framework is used to conduct remote ebXML testing, either for conformance or interoperability. NIST demonstrates its test driver implementation, which allows for scripting test cases using XML markup and driving test cases as individual workflows. The NIST test driver, by interpreting XML-encoded test cases, will drive black-box conformance testing of the ebXML Messaging Hermes open source. Conformance testing against the FreebXML Registry may also be demonstrated.
